Prescott is an Arizona city located within Yavapai County, AZ, United States. In 2010, the Census Bureau reported the population of Prescott to be 39,843 residents. The city is also the county seat of Yavapai County. Prescott was designated as the capital of the entire Arizona Territory in the year 1864, replacing it’s temporary capital of Fort Whipple. The Arizona Territorial Capital was moved again three years later, to Tucson, AZ in 1867.
